On January 7, 2015, I was sworn into office as Fulton County Commissioner of the new District 5, which encompasses Atlanta, East Point, City of South Fulton, and small parts of College Park and Union City. In 2020, I became the Vice-Chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. I count it an honor to serve 175,000+ residents of District 5.
At Fulton County, currently, I serve as co-Executive Sponsor for Fulton County’s Strategic Priority Area, All People’s Lives Are Culturally and Recreationally Enriched and All People Have Economic Opportunities. In previous years, I served as a co-Executive Sponsor of Fulton County's Strategic Priority Area, All People Are Safe. As an Executive Sponsor, I coalesce my legal and entertainment backgrounds to help develop policies and initiatives to enhance the quality of life for Fulton County’s residents and visitors.
In addition to being a district commissioner, I serve on the Board of Directors for McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority, Atlanta Fulton Recreation Authority (Vice-Chair), National Organization of Black County Officials (NOBCO), and The Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia. I am Vice President of the Georgia Association of Black County Officials (GABCO), Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), and National Association of Counties (NACo), where I serve on the Justice and Public Safety Committee and Arts and Culture Commission. The fourth Fulton County commissioner to become a certified County Commissioner through ACCG and the Carl Vinson Institute, I am also the only male in the history of the county.
Raised in southwest Atlanta, I am a proud graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. After graduating high school, I matriculated at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, VA where I earned a degree in Economics. I earned a Juris Doctorate at Emory Law School and is a member of the Georgia State Bar. A resident of the City of Atlanta, I am the proud father of four daughters.
